The weather is simple incredible right now and it seems like this endless summer sun shine has given everyone a summer to remember as one spent doing things we like. For me this summer has meant a few awesome trips on bikes around the coromandel.
I finally had a chance to give the bike rack a long haul trip. All and all it was pretty good and the only think that happened was some funny looks from strangers. The first part of the ride was from Auckland though Hamilton. A stop at a Funeral, RIP Martin, and on to the Patch Trails for A dirt jump jam! showed up pretty late and the crew were starting to shut it down so not much riding for me.
After Cambridge I took off towards Coromandel, after a solo ride for about an hour thought some amazing roads with no markings and even some gravel I ended up at a roundabout and meet up with some of the crew! pure luck! we gave a few high fives and kept rolling to Kev’s only problem is we got there pretty late so I missed seeing my favorites Rob and lola.
Slept out side next to the fire and in the morning this little guy came and kept an eye on things.
Kev has a sweet as river heading up his property and is always the best way to wake up after two many beers and stories from the crew.
This is Leo and is the tour guide when at Kev’s. He also has this sweet as XL and is quite good a burnouts on lawns.
Some of the boys posing for photos!
Kev’s working on this pretty rad Triumph. Should be a cool bike.
On the way back to Auckland Dan crashed his bike in an absolute crazy to be alive up hill ditch ride! somehow he came out unscratched and we were all pretty happy about that! However his bike was jacked!
FRAME: Custom dirt bike co frame with slimmer tubes and laid back geo. Also sports a 21.5tt, Reynolds 853 tubing, no gussets just streamlined good looks.
FORK: s&m race fork, prob the same weight as a standard fork but looks way doper with no taper.
STEM: S&M race stem with Ti bolts had this stem for about 9 years.
HANDLE BARS: s&m slam xlt’s not to big not to small just right all the moves.
GRIPS: ABD sent over some prototype Langands grips ages ago. Still in great shape and pretty comfy.
BRAKES: Odyssey trigger lever with Ti bolts all chromed out. Revenge industries brake arms and just added some Fly brake pads. All set up for mad skids on any terrain.
SEAT POST: Thompson, had this for around 8 years. Also have the Thompson ti bolt up-grade kit.
SEAT: s&m thin seat.
CRANKS: Profile made GT cranks 180mm long for speed and around 8-9 years old. Ti bolt up grade kit and Ti spindal.
BB: Don’t know the exact model, but the Bastard made up this trick spacer for me.
PEDALS: Premium PC’s
CHAIN: IZUMI Chrome.
WHEELS: Fly rims, Profile rear hub and Tree front, Ti bolts front and rear.
HEADSET: Zion headset, pulled it apart the other day. Thought it was fucked but cleaned it out and regressed the bearing. It’s already over a year old hopefully last another year.
TIRES: Trustee old V-Monster on the front rode my first V-Monster in 1994. Rear tire needs replacing after a skid killed the last one, but usually anything in a 20×1.95 size for speed.
It’s been freaking ages since I last posted up anything at all, not sure why.
Since my last post the tracker is running mint. I spent the day at Sid’s and she started 3rd Kick.
This is prob a fucking boring as post but thought I would share the OG idea and also my profit and loss sheet.
This is the original drawing I did up for the look, parts, and feel of the bike. It’s pretty fucking nerdy but unlike a push bike there are so many bits you can get lost in your own mind thinking it all over. If you’re going to do a similar project this is a good idea and keeps you focused at the task.
The plan was to sell as much push bike stuff as possible from my own stash. In the January column is all the parts and bikes I sold $2024 and in February are the motorbike parts $3826. Minus the two and the bike was going for around $1802.
One of the last bits was getting the seat covered. Stu from Stu’s Trim & Sound did up this sweet cushion for the base Sid made and it was really the icing on the cake.
And that’s all she wrote, the summer awaits and the bike is ready to shred some shit.
