Winter Bike Check

This is my all round beater-cargo-cruiser-hungover-old timer-wet weather-cant be fucked-winter bike.
It gets the most use out of all of my bikes especially now the weathers getting worse. I had this same set up on a 58cm Raleigh tourer with canti brakes but it was a bit big and I wanted it to ride more like my last winter bike, so I wrangled this 56cm carlton off a customer who bought a new frame at the shop and managed to jam all the parts on even without eyelets or clearance for the mudgaurds and rack. Check out the bracket for the front rack, its bent under the dropouts to stop it rotating. Here’s the rundown
56cm Carlton made in England, Double butted 531 renyolds
free front wheel
3 beer swap back wheel with 7 speed shimano cassette.
28c Panaracer Pasala tyres, gumwall for retro factor.
Velo Orange wheel eyebrows p-clamped on.
Velo Orange front Porteur rack. (This thing is so good! Stainless steel and so light and strong, Ive doubled my friend on it, filled up the gas bottle, carried 2 dozen tallcans. Its expensive but so worth it.)
175cm Middleburn crank of ebay
DMR chainguide
Gusset pedals and holdfast.
shitty brakes and sweet ass diacompe ss-5 levers cushioned for comfort.
some porteur style bars from bricklane bikes
colombus stem from andy pancake shimmed to fit bars

7 speed shimano barend shifter and free suntour rear mech
controltech seatpost and beatup charge bucket saddle

The ChCh MotoKing

During this years E.D.H jam the rain came in the Friday before the jam, Ben Seek was showing me around town and he lead us out to John’s cycles in Briton. Needless to say the stoked levels maxed out with all his killer motos???? this shit was off the hook, the shit John was doing was next level moto biking! every bike was detailed beyond.

Ted on a Tuesday

Went to drop something off to ted on my day off today and he showed me the cargo bike hes been working on. A bit of bob jackson here a bit of brian rourke there, a few reynolds chainstays and a healthy amount of plain gauge 4130 make this beast strong enough to carry 3 drunken friends home. I rohloff hub makes it reliable and easy to ride. and hydraulic discs mean youll stop no matter what the load.

So rad!

So RAD!!

Berlin review

SWEET!

I Loved Berlin, I’m definitely going back in summery time.

The roads are wide and no one cares if you ride on the footpath.

You can get 7c back for your empty bottles as they have a great recycling policy.  11 bottles = 1 beer and you can trade em at any corner shop.

Sweet record stores.

Good op shops and markets.

So many beers!

Good vibes all round.

10 out of 10 Berlin!

From The CGK

The CGK sent me a care package.. thanks fulla’s! The pineapple lumps where amazing.  I will make sure the ‘Hi Kenny’ goes to a good home somewhere, someplace. Duncan also sent me my / his / mine / our  Real Purple (fuck grape shit) Nitto Jag stem to match my new bars and post (not pictured ).

Lost Photos

Finally.. I found one of my memory cards from my Canon G7 point’n'shoot I used in Vietnam. Sorry dudes no biking photos, thought I would share them anyway. Enjoy! And if you get a chance, Visit Vietnam, its paradise!
