SNOBBED!

Ive been a fan of the bike snob for years. He is a constant source of amusement and inspiration, with his razor wit and his down to earth sensibilities. His constant, rigorous and hilarious dissection of day to day cycling culture is totally unrivaled.
There have been many times I have built a bike bike and wondered what the snob would have said, most of which where a few years ago amongst the fixed gear frenzy. But it seems all it takes to draw the attention of discerning snobs is a simple “street bike”.

There has been some discussion about street bikes with a few people over here but I didn’t introduce them properly on the blog.

STREET BIKE

A misappropriated road bike or time-trial bike used for short runs around town or short commutes.

The main points of a STREET BIKE are….

- Too nice alloy or carbon road or TT frame.

- Single speeded or geared with 7-8-9.

-Fucked up usual SBC style with BMX or mountain bike components, esp bmx flat pedals, mountain bike risers and some rattle can or faux crabon.

Road bikes are for ROADS but street bikes are for the STREETS.

Follow these simple rulz and we can all get thoroughly snobbed.

Paul Moffat Bike Check

Some of you may have already seen this on Zombie… But I figured a Rat Rod Whip like this deserves its place on Skull Bike Club. This is Paul Moffat’s daily shredder here in Vancouver. Paul has been an OG fan of the SBC for a number of years now and has a growing collection of unique bikes including the infamous Pirate Bike, which hopefully with grace these pages shortly. All the bike check photos are by Paul himself and the riding ones where shot at the Igloo by myself. Paul shreds!

BFF piece

Not best friends forever but the piece of art I did for the Bike Film Festival art exhibition last year.
Its a dip-titch called split second, spray paint on steel and its about living and dieing and the chaos and order of sub atomic particals flying around that make up seconds of riding a bike.
