Here’s a little update on Project Kastan, this time focusing on the crank set up.. I’m going to be running a pair of RNC 2nd Generation Race Cranks with Ti Spindle. The crank arms came from Dave Struthers at Ride On in Vancouver via The Wazman and the spindle came from Louis Bolter. Thanks dudes! They are super nice cranks and suit the midschool steeze of the Kastan.
The left crank arm still needs to be polished, I might take them to the polishers and get a nice mirror finish done?
I wanted to run a Profile American BB because the look trick as hell and come in anodized blue. The only problem is that the Profile BB’s are for 19mm spindles and the RNC cranks are 22mm.
So I paid a visit to old mate Paul Beadle who took some time away from his busy schedule making the machines that make beer to mill out the profile BB cones to 22mm.
Skull’s got me this nice NOS 42t anodized blue chain ring which looks really good on the RNC’s.. thanks Mark!

Here’s how it looks installed.. killer!
Because every pair of spindle bolts on every pair of RNC Cranks known to man stripped out or snapped I had to pick up some general dome head bolts for the Bolt Shop and run them with some anodized black PMC axle washer which makes for a nice fit. And Paul Beadle trimmed the bolts down nicely for me.
The TNT chain ring is rad… BUT.. I also have this 44t Profile Imperial in Blue!!
I also spotted that Profile have Rip Saw’s on special in anodized blue.. which I could easily order in through the shop. Decisions decisions? What should I run?

All those sprockets look good man. Keep both the 42 and 44 for when you want to run a different gear.
Hi Mike,
Spoke to you on the phone the other week, is it possible to get these images in high res if you have them? Rad project so far!
Cheers,
M.
